The 2016 Chevy Volt has increased Battery Capacity

In addition to announcing the all-new Chevy Bolt, General Motors is also showing off the MY 2016 Chevy Volt. According to the company, the new Volt will deliver more to the Volt’s electric-driving experience with 50 miles of EV range, greater efficiency and stronger acceleration.

There are a number of noteworthy features on the 2016 model which includes an increased battery capacity, allowing owners to drive more than 1,000 miles on average between gasoline fill-ups with a total estimated driving range exceeding 400 miles, 50 of those in all-electric mode.

It gets a new 192-cell/18.4-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, 111-kW two-motor drive unit as well as an all-new Voltec system which is about 12 percent more effective than previous models. The company also stated that they have made the 2016 model Voltec system approximately approximately 100 pounds (45 kg) lighter plus the vehicle is capable of acheiving 0-60 in 8.4 seconds.

Thanks to its improved two-drive motor unit and a 1.5L range extender, drivers can now feel assured that they can go anywhere, anytime without having to worry about whether they have enough battery power to go through mountains or range for a spontaneous weekend getaway.
