If the Amazon Fire HD 6 and Fire HD 7 just doesn’t cut it for you, then you might want to know more about the Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 tablet which comes with a bigger screen than the others, a processor up to two times faster and 20% lighter than the iPad Air.
The Fire HDX features an 8.9-inch HDX display with a 2560×1600 pixel resolution which Amazon states has 30% more pixels than the iPad Air’s Retina display, it weighs in at only 13.2 ounces and measures 9.1? x 6.2? x 0.3?.
The Fire HDX 8.9 is powered Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 805 processor which is faster than the Snapdragon 800 found in last year’s model, and also offers up to 70 percent faster graphics performance than its predecessor. Other noteworthy specs includes 802.11ac MIMO dual-band WiFi for up to 4 times faster wireless data transfers, the first tablet to feature Dolby Atmost sound and according to Amazon the speakers are twice as loud as the iPad Air.
There’s an 8MP camera on the rear and a front-facing 720p HD camera for selfies. The device will be available in 16GB, 32GB or 64GB versions, with the option for 4G LTE connectivity
