Amazon announces Fire HD 7 Tablet for $139

Along with the pocketable Amazon Fire HD 6, Amazon has also announced its new Fire HD 7 which is basically the same tablet as the HD 6 but with a bigger screen, and comes fitted with stereo speakers unlike the HD 6 which has mono speakers.

It comes with a 7-inch display with a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution, powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor and are available in either 8GB or 16GB storage capacities. The device measures 7.5? x 5? x 0.4? and weighs 11.9 ounces, with a battery life up to 8 hours and single band WiFi connectivity.

The Amazon Fire HD 7 seems to replace the Kindle Fire HD, and has dropped the Kindle name altogether, which makes sense since they just announced their new Fire Phone and Fire TV. The Fire HD 7 starts at $139 (or add $20 to remove the “special offers” ad on the home screen) and comes in five different colors options; Black, Magenta, White, Citron and Cobalt.
