Amazon has announced of its plans to launch its Fire TV digital set-top box on the European market, with the UK and Germany being the first on the continent to get the product. Amazon will start shipping the device in Germany starting on September 25th for the price of €99, however Amazon Prime subscriber in that country will be able to get the device for half that price.
The Fire TV Set-top will kick off sales in the UK on October 23rd for the price of for £79, but Prime subscribers will get to purchase the device for £49. If you want to be the first of your friends to have the device, Amazon is already taking pre-orders for the device in both countries.
The hardware specifications will be the same as the version offered in the United States, it comes equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, it supports WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity plus an Ethernet port for owner who down have a wireless network. The Amazon Fire TV also comes with a wireless remote control with a microphone for voice searches.
The device was designed to stream online music, movies and videos plus you also have the option of playing games with the optional wireless game motion remote control. The European version of the Fire TV will offer access to to content not available in the US, and vice versa for the US version.
