As soon as the new PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles were announced, several big name retailers such as Amazon had them listed for pre-order. Within a mere hours, both consoles were completely sold out on Amazon, although the online retailer current has both available for pre-order.
Amazon has just announced that last week was its biggest pre-order week ever due to the launch of both consoles. As a result of the both consoles being launched, Amazon is saying that at the peak of demand last week, its customers were pre-ordering over 2,500 Xbox One and PlayStation 4 per minute.
“Amazon also compares its pre-order sales of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 to all video game sales taking place during Black Friday 2012. Pre-order sales of these next-generation consoles reached nearly twice the amount of all video game sales during that time, which is pretty amazing considering just how many video game products are purchased during Black Friday.”
