Apple announces iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus

Apple has finally made the announcement for its next generation iPhone Smartphones, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. The device was announced during a keynote at an live event at the Flint Center in Cupertino, California on Tuesday (September 9th). According to the company, the new iPhone 6 is up to 50% faster than the original iPhone, graphics up to 84 times faster than the original and is even 50% more energy efficient, so you can have higher sustained performance.

The iPhone 6 comes fitted with a 4.7-inch display with the over-sized iPhone 6 Plus getting a 5.5-inch display, with 1334×750 and 1920×1080 resolution, respectively. The new display sizes uses a new generation of Retina display Apple is calling Retina HD, the new display uses the ion-strengthened glass on top, and on the bottom, an ultrathin backlight.

Both versions of the new generation iPhone is powered by a new A8 processor which promises to keep the device running faster than any other iPhone before, they get an M8 chip which plans to improve performance for motion sensing and health tracking. Apple also promised that the battery life on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will be much better than the last generation of iPhones.

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus gets Apple’s 8-megapixel iSight camera with f/2.2 aperture, they also fitted a sensor inside which that’s an improvement over previous iPhone cameras, and a faster auto-focus. Both devices gets a standard digital image stabilization system, but the iPhone 6 Plus gets an optical image stabilization system that uses the phone’s gyroscope and M8 processor to cancel out movements and shaking hands.

The new iPhones comes with Apple’s iOS 8 operating system, and software updates for older iPhones will be available starting on September 17th. The iPhone 6 will be available in various versions; a 16GB version that goes for $199, 64GB version for $299 and a 128GB version for $399… while the iPhone 6 Plus comes in a 16GB version for $299, 64GB version for $399 and an 128GB version for $499. Apple will start taking pre-orders on September 12th, and will be available in stores on September 19th.
