Archos just announced another Android tablet on the market, but this time around it appears as though the company has taken an extra step to make their tablet look similar to Apple’s iPad. The Archos 97 Premium tablet comes equipped with a 9.7-inch IPS display which is similar to the iPad, showing that Archos designed this tablet to take on Apple’s popular iPad in a head-to-head competition.
Not only are the screen dimensions similar, they also share the same “Retina” display resolution of 1536×2048. The tablet comes with an unpainted, anodized aluminum backing, as well as curvaceous, protruding metallic edges. The company did made a few changes to deter Apple lawyers such as the front-facing camera been allocated to the top left-hand corner and the company imprinted its own name in the center above the display.
Specifications of the Archos 97 Premium Tablet includes a 1.6GHz dual-core processor, it features front and rear cameras, WiFi connectivity, 8GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot that will support 64GB cards, it supports a variety of media formats and it comes pre-installed with the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS.
