ASUS FonePad 7-inch Tablet doubles as a Smartphone

ASUS FonePad 7-Inch TabletAsus announced the upcoming launch of its new FonePad 7-inch Tablet, which combines a phone and a tablet in a single device. As its name suggests, the FonePad will deliver the productivity of a tablet and the connectivity of a smartphone with built-in 3G mobile data and phone functionality, the device provides both the voice communication feature of a phone and the entertainment experience offered by a tablet.

Its ideal for the user who is willing to use a 7-inch device as a phone. It comes equipped with a 7-inch IPS touchscreen display with a 1280×800 pixel resolution, powered by an Intel Atom Z2420 1.2Ghz processor with 1GB of RAM, plus the tablet comes in two different versions; a 8GB and 16GB model which both comes with a microSD card slot that supports cards up to 32GB.

The camera has two camera; a 3-megapixel main camera capable of 720p HD video recording plus a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera for self portraits and video calling. The FonePad supports quad-band GSM/EDGE and quad-band HSPA mobile network, and uses micro SIM card. Other features include GPS/GLONASS, e-compass, built-in speakers with SonicMaster technologu and MaxxAudio 3 processing for enhanced sound quality, and 9 hours of battery life.

The Intel-powered tablet comes pre-loaded with custom Asus Launcher, Kindle, Zinio, SuperNote Lite applications and runs the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system.
