Barnes & Noble has announced the release of its 7-inch NOOKcolor eReader on the US Market. The new NOOKcolor is the successor of the Nook eReader that was reported here a while back, it features a 7-inch capacitive touchscreen IPS display with a 1024 x 600 pixel resolution so readers can enjoy their favorite magazine and newspaper in rich color, there are other specifications of the Reader includes WiFi connectivity, an integrated mono speaker, Headphone Jack, 8GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot for expanding the memory of the device.

The NOOKcolor also comes with web apps, including the LendMe App that allows owners of the NOOKcolor to lend and borrow books from friends with just a few taps, users can also browse the internet with the device, play games on its VividView Color Touchscreen display, Play Music or access internet radio stations such as Pandora. The NOOKcolor comes with Android 2.0 or Android 2.1 OS and a battery life of 8 hours once the WiFi feature is off.

Barnes & Noble has already started pre-orders on the NOOKcolor for a price of $249 and will be shipped on November 19th, 2010. Amazon has already gotten its stock of accessories for the Barnes & Noble NOOKcolor.
