[CES 2012] Dell just unveiled its new Ultrabook that takes on the 13-inch MacBook Air and practically surpasses it in performance and specifications. The Dell XPS 13 comes equipped with a 13.3-inch HD WLED display that support 720pHD playback, 300-nit brightness and a 1366×768 resolution, it features a smaller body than the MacBook Air measuring 316 mm x 205 mm vs. 325 mm x 227 mm but a bit heavier.

It was designed to be durable with a machined aluminum construction with hardened Gorilla Glass and according to the company it is the only true enterprise-ready Ultrabook on the market to date. Other specifications of the Dell XPS 13 includes the choice of an Intel Core i5 2467M or i7 2637M processor, 4GB of RAM, Intel HD 3000 graphics, 128 or 256SSD options with Intel Rapid Start technology, Bluetooth 3.0, WiFi 802.11a/g/n connectivity with Intel’s Smart Connect Technology that provides instant updates even while the laptop is in sleep mode.

There’s an integrated webcam with a 1.3-megapixel sensor, it has a full-size keyboard, a glass buttonless touchpad and a 47WHr battery that promises to deliver up to 8 hours of battery life. It comes pre-loaded with Windows 7 Home Premium, Professional or Ultimate, no pricing details were included.
