Approximately four years after the cloud storage service Dropbox was block from China by authorities, it was revealed that the storage service is once again available to users in China.
The news was made public by the Tech in Asia website who noticed that the app was once again accessible last week. However, they held back publicizing the news just in-case the access was actually a mistake by Chinese authorities and would be corrected.
Even if this is a permanent thing for Dropbox, it will have a long way to go gaining customers in China since there are a number of competing cloud storage companies.
No details have been released by the Chinese government as to why they have now lifted restrictions and are now allowing access to the Dropbox cloud storage service once again, or even why was blocked nearly 4 years ago.
