Elgato just unveiled its new Solid State Drive that was designed specially for use with the Thunderbolt interface on Apple’s Mac computers. The Elgato Thunderbolt Solid State Drive promises up to 10Gbps of data throughput and is also capable of read speeds up to 270MBps.
The Thunderbolt SSDs for Mac computers will be available in the storage capacities of 120GB and 240GB options. The drives will connect to your Mac Notebook using a high-speed Thunderbolt connector and according to the company this is the first Thunderbolt storage devices, targeted at high-end video production, were multi-drive RAID arrays that cost thousands of dollars.
The Elgato Thunderbolt SSD series is expected to be retailed at a suggested market price of £350 for the 120GB model and the 240GB model will retail for £570.
