Foxconn workers goes on strike over new iPhone 5 quality standards

Were you one of the many customers that purchased the new iPhone 5 and upon unboxing you discovered that the device was full of blemishes and tiny but visible scars. Well Apple has taken action to ensure this doesn’t happen again but the chinese workers at Foxconn Zhengzhou factory are calling these new quality standards ridiculous.

Foxconn Employee StrikeApple is calling on Foxconn to adhere to there stricter quality demands for its flagship handset. The new quality standards demands and only allows for a 0.02mm appearance defect. Approximately three to four thousand workers stepped off the production line to protest the new standards, “It’s tough under such stringent quality requirements,” writes Sina Weibo user and Foxconn employee Yefudao.

The workers are presently on strike causing production of the iPhone 5 to come to a halt. “A 0.02mm appearance defect is already beyond that of our vision. With such a demanding task, workers’ mental pressure becomes so immense that they have to vent it out.” The situation hasn’t broken out into a riot, but a dispute between line workers and quality control inspectors reportedly sparked a fight that led to property damage, injury and some hospitalization.
