Garmin has introduces a new series of Avionic Certified devices, the series is called the GTN Series and features the GTN 650 and 750 devices. These panel-mount units are certified and approved for installation in hundreds of makes and models of general aviation aircraft, they are all feature new capabilities including touchscreen operation, graphical flight planning with victor airways and high-altitude jet routes, remote transponder while the 750 (only) series features remote audio control, SafeTaxi and electronic chart capabilities.
They also comes with built-in terrain, mapping and obstacle databases plus they are SBAS/WAAS-enabled, meaning they have the capability to let the pilot fly GPS-guided LPV guidepath approaches down to ILS-comparable minimums. The 650 model gets a 4.9-inch touchscreen display while the GTN 750 model gets a 6.9-inch touchscreen display which is large enough to view and entire chart via Garmin Chartview and FliteCharts. The GTN 650 and GTN 750 will be available in a 10-watt COM with a field upgradeable 16-watt COM version aslo available. They are expected to be available at $11,495 and $16,995, respectively.
