Last Week Apple CEO Tim Cook confirmed that the company will commence shipping on its first smartwatch in April 2015. Which could simply means that the company is now getting itself prepared for its retail operations once the device is available in Apple Store around the world.
In addition to the colorful sports models of the upcoming smartwatch, there are also more expensive models expected, such as the gold Apple Watch Edition which is expected to cost couple thousand dollars. In preparing for retail, it was reported that the gold edition of the smartwatch will be stored in special safes at Apple retail locations.
The guys over at 9to5Mac reports that sources confirms that Apple retail stores will be fitted with special safes to secure the inventory to be sold as well as demo watches will be kept in these safes overnight. Customers who opted to purchase the more expensive models could be provided with an experience similar to that of luxury watch boutiques and jewelry stores.
