Hands-on with a Samsung U900 Soul

Samsung U900
Not a new handset but it is something that you would love to have in your pocket or handbag. The Samsung U900 Soul which is a kind of popular phone in the United Kingdom but somehow made its way over a few thousand miles into my hands.

The first thing that caught my eye on the SGH U900 is the Navigation panel below the display screen, it has shortcuts to menu items such as messaging, bluetooth and other stuff you use regularly. This adds a plus the user friendliness of the handset plus the panel is touch sensitive, with each touch of a menu item and animated circle highlights your selection while the handset makes a slight vibrate.

When compared with my Blackberry Pearl as seen above you will see realize that the Samsung Soul is not a bulky slider phone, it weighs just 112g and measures 105.9 x 49.5 x 12.9 mm. It has a 2.2-inches LCD display with 240 x 320 pixels resolution.

The phone supports both 2G 900 / 1800 / 1900 networks and 3G 2100 networks. It has 128 MB of internal storage plus support for microSD cards via the slot on the side. Surprisingly there is a document viewer function that makes the U900 capable of displaying Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF documents. Stereo FM Radio with RDS and bluetooth connectivity v2.0 with A2DP. The main highlight of this handset is the 5 megapixel camera that shoots 2560?1920 resolution photos plus it has additional features such as Face detection, image stabilization, wide dynamic range and recording of QVGA videos.
