[#CES 2013] Huawei just announced the new Ascend D2 Smartphone, a large device that will go up against smartphones like the HTC J Butterfly and the DROID DNA, which is currently available in the US market from Verizon Wireless. The handset comes equipped with a 5-inch FHD display with a FHD 1080p resolution that has a pixel density of 443ppi.
The construction of the Ascend D2 features a durable metal 9.9mm design that is dust and water resistant. The new handset comes equipped with a 13-megapixel camera with a BSI sensor, and a front-facing camera for video chatting. The 5-inch Ascend D2 is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and runs the Android 4.1.2 operating system with its custom Emotion UI.
It weighs only 170 grams with its 3,000 mAh battery. It also includes Quick Power Control technology that enables the battery to charge faster than other devices despite having a larger battery. Huawei is so confident about the new Ascend D2, that they went ahead and said the phone will charge 25 percent faster than the Galaxy S II.
Huawei Ascend D2 Smartphone will first be available in China and Japan next month, and will be available on other markets starting in March.
