I-O Data has announced its new device called NUBES, its an SDHC/SDXC card reader that is WiFi enabled. The device is ideal for those on the go, it supports 802.11 b/g/n connectivity up to 150 Mbps and it provides enough bandwidth to stream 720p HD videos.
The reader works as a short-range WLAN router, supporting all modern router security features, including WPA-PSK (TKIP / AES), WPA2-PSK (AES). It will support up to three connections at the same time plus it has an integrated battery that provides up to 4 hours of operation from a full charge.
The I-O Data NUBES will also be getting its own iOS app that allows the user to manage files, and stream media from an inserted SD card. The NUBES WiFi Card Reader is expected to go on sale in Japan soon and will cost the consumer 4,180¥ which is about $50 USD
