Iomega today announced the next generation of its quad-drive desktop NAS appliance with the launch of the Iomega StorCenter ix4-200d. The Iomega StorCenter ix4-200d is a high performance four-drive desktop NAS appliance for small businesses and home office networks. It has four SATA II hard drive bays and supports RAID 5, RAID 10 and JBOD configurations.
It is available in 2TB, 4TB and 8TB Storage sizes and comes with some really efficient features which includes iSCSI block-level access, a QuikTransfer button for one-touch copying of selected files, a front panel LCD and Bluetooth capability which allows the user to upload photos and contacts from their cell phones, pocket PC or Blackberry phone using a Bluetooth USB adapter which is sold separately.
There are other features like Windows Active Directory support and device-to-device (D2D) replication to network targets. The Iomega StorCenter ix4-200d is compatible with with Windows, Mac OS, and Linux PCs. It comes with a suggested retail price of 2TB ($699.99), 4TB ($899.99) and the 8TB model is $1,899.99.
