Kingston has unveiled its next-generation SSDNow V300 series of solid state drives, which the company aims at the budget-conscious consumers who are looking to upgrade their existing desktop or notebook PC.
The SSDNow V300 is based on 19nm NAND flash memory and is powered by a customized LSI SandForce controller for enhanced performance of up to 450MB/s sequential read and write speeds. It utilizes the SATA III 6Gbps interface and is available in 60GB, 120GB and 240GB capacities.
The desktop upgrade kit includes a 3.5-inch bracket and monuting screws and SATA and power cables, while the notebook kit has a 2.5-inch USB enclosure and a 7mm to 9.5mm adapter. Kingston says the new SSD is 10x faster than a 7200RPM hard drive and will be shipping soon with a included hard drive cloning software.
