Lenovo has announced its new ruggedized ThinkPad X130e laptop that was designed specially for education and comes pre-loaded with features needed to help students in grades K-12. The ThinkPad X130e comes equipped with a 11.6-inch display and comes with the choice of the latest Intel or AMD processors, an AMD Fusion E-300 and E-450 or Intel second generation Core i3-2367M ULV processors. There is also a choice for the graphics cards, between an AMD Radeon or Intel HD-powered graphics plus it also comes with Lenovo’s RapidBoot technology which enables the X130e to start up in less than 20 seconds.
Because the X130e was designed specially for use with kids, it was reinforced and has an extra durable rubber top cover to absorb impacts to the side of the laptop, it has 33% stronger corners to reduce the chance to damage when dropped at an angles and it has a reinforced bezel that was constructed with 1.2mm thick plastic that protects the LED panel. Other specifications of the laptop includes WiFi connectivity, an integrated webcam, and a battery life of up to 8.5 hours from a single charge. The Lenovo ThinkPad X130e is will be available starting on December 20 and goes for $469 per unit.
