LG Display has announced that they have successfully developed a 55-inch OLED panel for HD televisions. This new panel will be demonstrated at the upcoming CES in January, for years now producing large OLED displays has been an ongoing challenge similar to the difficulties they faced producing LCD displays years back.

The new 55-inch OLED panel that LG has developed supports a 100,000:1 contrast ratio plus it can reproduce more colors than LCD displays, according to LG. The response time of the device that will come with this new advancement in technology will also be much higher and it will also feature a reaction velocity to electric signals over 1000 times faster than liquid crystal.

“The new technology allows light emitting diodes to self-generate light and features a reaction velocity to electric signals over 1000 times faster than liquid crystal”, LG stated.
