The M55 Bike EVO-001 is the latest electric bike from M55, it has take the company three years and after five different prototypes here it is, unlike the Volkswagen Bik.e which was recently showed off at the Auto China 2010 Show it cannot be folded, however it is hand-built and has an one-piece molded aluminum frame and integrated battery pack. There will be two different models of the EVO-001, the street legal version with a 250W motor and the off-road sport version with a 1300W motor that can reach 70km/h on the flat and 5 speeds, unlike the Bik.e which only can deliver a top speed of 20 kilometers per hour. Neither bike features a manual accelerator, the motor speed is controlled by the pedals. Pedal harder and the motor works harder too. Ease off and so does the motor.
M55, is a Hungary-based company has set out to create the “Ferrari of electric bikes”, they might have done so but the questions is: for how long will it reign? Only 250 units of the Bike will be built with all getting h Brembo disc brakes which were developed in the same production plant where F1 and Moto GP brakes are produced.
