According to reports, Microsoft is now working on a set-top box that is capable on online streaming video capability. Previous reports as stated that the software giant is working on a device that will allow users to sign onto Xbox Live and users can also use the apps to view streaming video.
This new set would basically clone the non-gaming features of the Xbox 360 gaming console and make it available as a fairly cheap product. The Wall Street Journal says that such a device would go for $99 and it should be a competitor against Roku and Apple TV.
The set-top box is still in development but we might not see it anytime soon, Microsoft may still shelve the project, as the company’s new console launches. Sources claim it has gone through a number of iterations, including one with Kinect-style motion controls.
