Nikon just announced the release of another digital camera with ultra zooming capabilities from its CoolPix series, dubbed the Nikon CoolPix P520. According to the camera makers, the new CoolPix P520 is a replacement for the CoolPix P510 which was released last year.
Like its predecessor, the P520 also comes with a 42x zoom range as well as some added features. It sports the very same 42x optical zoom-NIKKOR glass lens with a 24-1000mm focal range, EXPEED C2 image processor and it gets a higher resolution 18.1-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor.
There’s an ISO sensitivity range of up to 6400 which is wider than the previous model, it includes Motion detection to reduce motion blur as well as an Active Mode to reduce blurs when shooting from a moving vehicle or walking and shooting. It comes equipped with built-in GPS which records location data for each photo captured or video recorded, it can shoot at 7fps high-speed continuous and can record videos in 1920x1080p resolution at 30fps.
The Nikon CoolPix P520 is equipped with a 3.2-inch LCD vari-angle display plus the device also gets an HDMI output port for sharing images with other photography enthusiasts on a much larger display. There’s also the option to share images and videos to smartphones and tablets wirelessly, using the optional WU-1a Wireless Mobile Adapter.
Nikon will start selling the CoolPix P520 later this month, it will be available in the colors of dark grey, red and black for $449.95 per unit, which i’m thinking is a pretty good price.
