OCZ Technology has introduced its new Talos 2 Series dual-ported SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) solid state drives that was designed specially for enterprise users. It promises to deliver an superior performance, thanks to its Virtualized Controller Architecture 2.0 technology which implements an intelligent complex command queuing structure with unique queue balancing algorithms.
The 2.5-inch Talos 2 provides up to 70,000 4K IOPS random transactional performance and up to 42,000 8K IOPS mixed workload (75% read; 25% write) performance. It also includes DataWrite Assurance Protection in case of sudden power loss, and it offers the option to enable T10-DIF (Data Integrity Field), allowing for the insertion of 8 bytes of additional data during transfers to ensure complete data integrity. They also released the Talos 2 R series that uses MLC NAND flash and comes in 200GB, 400GB, 800GB capacities. The enterprise SSD series comes in the capacities of 100GB to 1TB and are available in eMLC, and SLC NAND configurations.
