Olympus launches in Europe another affordable digital camera, the VG-170 which is claimed to have the “best-in-class flash”. The new point-and-shoot is the bigger brother of the recently announced VG-160, and features similar specifications such as a 14-Megapixel image sensor, a 26mm wide angle 5x optical zoom lens and a 3-inch LCD display.
Other specifications includes Face Detection, Shadow Adjustment Technology which enables the device to capture faces clearly. There’s the Intelligent Auto Mode (i-Auto), AF Tracking, ISO up to 1600, Scene Mode for automatic settings that suit specific conditions and Beauty Mode for hiding unwanted blemishes.
The camera comes with a powerful flash, which is able to light up faces and objects up to 15 meters away. It also has the Long Flash Mode that automatically adjust ISO sensitivity for capturing photos in low lighting conditions. There is also a 3D image shooting mode, it records 720p HD video with sound and will start shipping in February in the colors of black, white and red for 99 euros.
