Panasonic is back with another Toughbook, this one is called the Toughbook 31. Like all the other rugged Toughbooks, the Toughbook 31 is protected from drops of up to six feet and has achieved an IP65 rating for unparalleled protection from water and dust, also certified to MIL-STD-810G, which makes it a ideal choice for professionals like military personnel and field workers. It is powered by an Intel Intel Core i5 or i3 processor and ATI Radeon HD 5650 discrete graphics.
It comes in a full magnesium alloy case and has other specifications such as a 13.1-inch XGA touchscreen display with Panasonic CircuLumin technology that offers a 1,100 nit brightness. There is also a 160GB or 250GB Hard Drive, up to 8GB RAM, 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFi, GPS receiver, Bluetooth 2.1 +EDR and optional 3G connectivity. The Toughbook 31 also supports numerous security features, including options for an insertable SmartCard reader and fingerprint reader, using biometrics to protect mission-critical data. It comes pre-loaded with Windows 7 with a Windows XP downgrade option and a starting price of $3,799.
