Panasonic has announced its latest member to the Panasonic Toughbook Series, it is called the Panasonic Toughbook S9 that is claimed to be the world’s lightest 12.1-inch Notebook with integrated DVD Drive. The Toughbook S9 is MIL-STD-810G certified, it is capable of surviving drops from up to 12-inch from any angle.
It is powered by an Intel Core i5-520M vPro Processor running at 2.4GHz and can be Turbo Boost to 2.93GHz, a 320GB Shock-Mounted Flex-connected Hard Drive, with 2GB of RAM that can be expanded to 6GB. Other specifications includes Panasonic Spill-Resistant Keyboard that protect from spills up to 6 onces, it can withstand up to 220lbs of pressure and comes in a magnesium alloy case.
Its 12.1-inch LCD display features a 1280×800 pixel resolution with LED-backlit and anti-glare screen treatment, there is Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, WiFi, HDMI, VGA outputs and a DVD SuperMulti Burner. Other optional features include integrated WWAN / Gobi2000 mobile broadband (EV-DO and HSPA), integrated fingerprint reader and it weighs just about 3lbs.
The Panasonic Toughbook S9 Rugged-Notebook will be available in the United States for a price of $2,499.
