Pioneer has introduced its latest portable writer that is being claimed as the world’s smallest and thinnest BDXL writer, it is called the Pioneer BDR-XU02J. This new external Blu-ray writer measures only W133mm x D133mm x H12mm and weighs in at only 245 grams, which means it shouldn’t be a hassle when traveling.
The Pioneer BDR-XU02J features a slot-loading mechanism, it features a USB 2.0 connection interface and provides writing speeds up to 6x for BD-R (SL/DL), 4x for BD-R (TL/QL), 6x for BD-R (LtH) and 2x for BD-RE. The portable Blu-ray writer comes with a silver exterior similar to that of a Mac computer.
Pioneer plans to start shipping the portable Blu-ray writer starting in late December and will go for the price of around 22,000 Yen which is approximately $266.
