Point Grey has announced the launch of its latest Flea3 USB 3.0 camera models which follows its first USB 3.0 cameras that was launched in October. The new models goes by the name FL3-U3-13S2, these models are based on monochrome and color versions of the Sony IMX035 which is a CMOS sensor that has the capability to produce high-quality 1.3-megapixel images with a 1328×1024 resolution at 120fps. The IMX035 sensor utilizes the Sony’s Exmor technology which uses the speed of CMOS with advanced-quality image sensor technologies.
The Flea3 models measures only 29 x 29 x 30mm and is ultra lightweight, it includes a 32 MByte frame buffer for image retransmission, on-camera power, temperature and status monitoring. These cameras are ideal for applications in machine vision and factory automation; scientific applications such as astronomy, microscopy and biophotonics; and prosumer applications such as video conferencing and kiosk imaging. The new FL3-U3-13S2 models is available from Point Grey and goes for the price of $695 and other Flea3 models are expected to be released throughout 2012.
