RIM launches BlackBerry Z10 Smartphone for AT&T and Verizon Wireless

RIM BB Z10 SmartphoneResearch In Motion today held their press event as promised, during the event they took the wraps off their high anticipated BlackBerry Z10 Full Touch Smartphone that will run the new BlackBerry 10 mobile operating system. The new BlackBerry Z10 is a detour from the old BlackBerry devices consumers are accustom to from previous years.

The Z10 is RIM’s first all-touchscreen BlackBerry 10 device, it comes equipped with a 4.2-inch display that delivers a 1280×768 pixel resolution and is expected to debut on the US market via two of its biggest mobile carriers; AT&T and Verizon Wireless.

Like no other BlackBerry smartphone, the Z10 is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor with 2GB of RAM, the handset comes with 16GB of built-in storage plus the option to expand with a microSD memory card. The handset also gets an 8-megapixel camera on the rear with autofocus, a 5x digital zoom and capable of recording 1080p HD videos and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera with 2x digital zoom and the ability to record 720p HD videos.

RIM BlackBerry Z10There’s also a slew of connectivity options including 4G LTE support, NFC (Near Field Communication), Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, a microHDMI output all packed in a frame that measures only 130mm x 65.6mm x 9mm. During the event, Thorsten Heins, BlackBerry CEO said that the new BlackBerry 10 operating system would be available in the UK starting tomorrow but he was hush-hush on the official US release date.
