The Samsung 830 Series of Solid State Drives which were announced back in August is finally making their way to stores in the United States. The Samsung 830 Series utilizes a SATA 6.0 Gbps interface and are expected to get a full launch on October 31st but it happens that the 64GB model is already available on sale.
The 830 series comes in the 2.5-inch form factor, they are backed by a three-year warranty, integrated with Samsung’s MLC (multi-level cell) NAND Flash memory chips, a MTBF of 1.5 million hours and delivers a 400 MB/s write speed and a 520MB/s read speed. The 64GB model that is already available on the other hand features a 160MB/s write speed but gets the 520MB/s read speed as its other siblings. Other than the 64GB model that is desktop only, the other drives in the 830 Series comes in either desktop or notebook upgrade kits.
Every kit comes with a copy of Norton Ghost 15 pre-loaded. They are available in a 64GB, 128GB, 256GB and 512GB models for $129.99, $229.99, $429.99 and $849.99, respectively.
