Just as LG announced that they will start mass producing flexible OLED displays, Samsung has announced its first smartphone that comes equipped with a curved display, this smartphone is being called the Galaxy Round. The smartphone features a slightly rounded design with a 5.7-inch, 1080p super AMOLED screen, in a case that measures a mere 7.9mm-thick case that weights only 154 grams.
Samsung claims that the curve design of the Galaxy Round offers comfortable grip, plus it comes with unique features. This includes the Roll Effect, which lets users check info such as data, time, missed calls and even your battery status. There’s also another feature called the Gravity Effect, which creates a visual interaction with the screen when the device is tilted.
The Galaxy Round is powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage plus a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel camera on the front. Samsung plans to start selling the Galaxy Round in Korea starting on October 10, it will be available in luxury brown color, the company has not revealed the launch date or pricing for all other markets as yet.
