Samsung has introduced its new NC215S Netbook that comes with a built-in solar panel and a six-cell battery that offers up to 14.5 hours of operation. It comes with a built-in solar panel on its lid that will deliver one hour of work for each two hours of recharging in the sun. The Samsung NC215S also comes with the hybrid fast start technology that allows the user to charge portable devices even when it is powered off using its USB 2.0 ports.
It is ideal for those who work outdoors and comes with a 10.1-inch display that features an anti-reflective coating with a 1024×600 pixel resolution and a 300-nit brightness rating as well. For the processor, users have the option to choose between a Atom N455 Single-core or an Atom N570 Dual-core processor, they have also added the option to choose between an 250GB or 320GB hard disk drive instead of adding Solid State Drive option which would have reduced power consumption and up to 2GB of RAM if you willing to add to the 1GB it ships with.
There are also a few I/O connectivity options which includes three USB 2.0 ports with its sleep and charge function, there is a VGA port, gigabit Ethernet, an microphone input, headphone jack and also comes equipped with the Windows 7 Starter Edition. Samsung also added a few innovations including the Samsung Fast Start feature which allows the user to start working as soon as lid is open or a button is pressed on the device.
Presently Samsung has announced that they will be launching the new NC215S Solar-Powered Netbook in Russia and it should go on sale early in August for the price of 13,999 rubles which is approximately $500 in the United States.
