SanDisk 128GB NAND Flash World’s Smallest Memory Chip

SanDisk 128GB NAND Flash
SanDisk has announced a new Flash Memory Chip that makes the company hold the title for the world’s smallest 128Gb NAND flash memory chip. The new SanDisk 128GB NAND Flash Memory chip measures just 170mm square in size which amounts to just a bit over 0.25″ squared, meaning the memory chip is smaller than the area of the standard US penny.

The new minature memory chip was built using SanDisk’s industry-leading 19 nanometer (nm) process technology, it utilizes SanDisk’s three-bit per cell (X3) technology that enables them to construct NAND flash memory products with the ability to read and write three bits of data in each memory cell. The new SanDisk 128GB NAND Flash and world’s smallest at that provides a write performance of 18MB/s.
