[CES 2012] The Sanho Corporation has plans to unveil the CloudFTP pocket-sized portable adapter at the CES on January 10th. The CloudFTP is a portable adapter that comes in a compact form, it allows the user to wirelessly transfer multimedia content / documents to the iPad, iPhone and other WiFi-enabled devices from USB storage devices including your digital camera, USB Hard Drive, USB Flash drive and card readers without the need for a PC.
According to Sanho Corporation, the CloudFTP pocket adapter is the most useful tool an iPad or iPhone user could own. Other than allowing data transfer from USB devices without a computer, the device also creates a WiFi hotspot which is used to stream movies (up to three different movies to three different iPads simultaneously.) In addition to multimedia files, the CloudFTP will open various document files including PDF, Microsoft Office documents and iWork documents, it automatically connects to the internet to backup and sync USB data to online cloud services such as iCloud, Dropbox and box.net.
The CloudFTP is ultra portable as it can be carried in your pocket, it measures only 2.95″ x 2.28″ x 0.87″ and weighs in at only 3.8oz. It is powered by a low power consumption ARM9 microprocessor and has Lithium-ion rechargeable batteries that will power USB port and devices for up to 5 hours. The CloudFTP will be available on the market starting in February in Black and White, will go for the retail price of $99.95.
