Sigma Design Intros Its ultra-thin Set-Top BoxSigma Designs has unveiled what they are calling the industry’s most advanced set-top box design that is about the same size of a Sheeva Plug and it could be considered as the smallest device to be called a “set-top box”. It has the ability to stream high-definition videos from the web in 1080p via networking through the AC power adapter.

The system integrates Z-Wave RF technology which enables the most advanced remote control functionality. It features a compact design and plugs directly into a wall socket so there are no power cords required. It comes with a simple HDMI connector which allows the user to connect it to their HDTV and has the ability to decode multiple HD IPTV streams.

This is the first design of its kind to weave together the comprehensive functionalities and necessary processing power to address most every need for the consumer to control their connected home. The new ultra-thin reference platform is the first in a series of Sigma-enabled solutions developed to support the needs of the ever evolving, feature-rich set-top box market.
