Sigma has announced that they will be releasing the new DP2x compact camera in April, it is basically the successor to the company’s DP2 and DP2s units. The new Sigma DP2x features a 14 Megapixel FOVEON X3 direct image sensor, a 24.2mm F2.8 large aperture lens, TRUE (Three-layer Responsive Ultimate Engine) II image processing engine which improves the processing speed of the camera and the overall quality of images. It comes with a 2.5-inch LCD display plus has other advanced specifications including an ISO rating of up to 3200, Analog Front End (AFE) and high-speed auto focus, there are three metering modes – Evaluative Metering, Center Weighted Average Metering and Spot Metering plus four exposure modes Program AE, Shutter Priority AE, Aperture Priority AE or Manual. The camera also supports 320×240 QVGA videos and RAW format recording. It will be launched later this month for a price of $800.
