[CES 2012] SolarFocus Technology is on the way to the CES 2012 where they will introduce what they claim to be the first practical solar gadget and the world’s first solar powered e-reader cover, the SolarKindle. It was designed specially for the Amazon Kindle, it features a flexible, lightweight high performance solar panel built right into the cover along with a dual-charging (USB/solar) reserve battery that extends your unplugged reading time by up to three-months under normal sunlight environment.
The SolarKindle also have a built-in LED reading lamp that can be powered continuously up to 50 hours without using the Kindle main battery enabling the user to read a book in low light conditions whether day or night. The integrated reserve battery automatically recharges the Kindle’s main battery thus extending your reading time without having to find a wall outlet. Thanks to the integrated Solar panel on the SolarKindle, one hour under direct sunlight provides up to 3 days of reading time.
The SolarKindle eReader Cover will be released on January 15, 2012 and priced at $79.99 per unit. If you will be at the CES 2012 starting on January 10-13, you can check out the SolarKindle on display at Solar Focus booth #70402 at the Venetian Ballroom in Las Vegas.
