In addition to the new TX series ruggedized camera, Sony also added three entry-level cameras to its Cyber-shot series, they are the DSC-W610, DSC-W620 and DSC-W650. All three cameras has similarities such as Sony’s 360 Sweep Panorama mode for users to capture seamless 360-degree panoramic images with one easy “press and sweep” motion and Intelligent Auto mode that automatically optimizes the device settings for outside shooting environment.
The most advanced of the trio is the Cyber-shot DSC-W650, it comes equipped with a 16.1-megapixel Super HAD CCD image sensor, there’s a 5x optical zoom lens with 25mm wide angle, enhanced Optical SteadyShot for blur-free images and a 3-inch LCD display to keep the objects in frame. The W620 and W610 on the other hand both comes with a 14.1 Megapixel Super HAD CCD sensor, the W620 gets a 5x optical zoom while the latter gets a 4x optical zoom lens.
Both the W620 and W610 are equipped with a 2.7-inch LCD display for previewing shots and to keep objects in frame while in capturing mode and unlike the W650, they both get SteadyShot image stabilization. Sony also managed to pack four Picture Effects on both the Cyber-shot W650 and the W620, effects includes Toy Camera, Partial Color, Pop Color and Soft High-key allowing the user to add creative custom styled photography. They also pack other features such as the ability to record 720p HD videos, they have Face Detection, Smile Shutter, Dynamic Range Optimizer that helps recover shadows and highlights, Intelligent Scene Recognition mode, Self-Portrait Timer, Soft Skin mode, plus the W650 also gets Anti-blink and Natural Flash.
Sony plans to start selling the Cyber-shot DSC-W610 for the price of $109.99 and will be available in the colors of silver, black, pink, green and blue, while the Cyber-shot W620 and the Cyber-shot W650 will be available in the colors of silver, black and red for $119.99 and $139.99 respectively.
