[E3 2011] Sony has officially announced its new PlayStation Vita (PCH-1000 series) Next Generation Portable Gaming device at the E3 2011 Trade Show. The new Playstation Vita was designed to bring a whole new user experience to portable gaming but takes on a similar design to PlayStation Portable (PSP). It may feature a similar look but it delivers a whole new gaming experience or “Life” as Vita means in Latin. It comes equipped with a 5-inch multitouch OLED touchscreen display and a multitouch pad on the rear of the device which allows the gamer to interact with the games in three dimension motions with the finger, which includes “touch, grab, trace, push and pull”. The PlayStation Vita packs the power of a quad-core ARM Cortex A9 Processor with PowerVR SGX543MP4+ GPU, Dual-Cameras: there is a front and a rear camera that enables the user to record videos, it has three-axis electronic compass, Bluetooth, six-axis motion sensing system, Built-in stereo speakers and microphone, it offers multi-use ports for USB data transfers and will be available in a WiFi-only model and a 3G/WiFi model as well.

We also forgot to mention that the PlayStation Vita also comes with built-in GPS functions but only for the 3G/WiFi models and both models are expected to be available in stores at the end of 2011. The PlayStation Vita WiFi-only model will go for the price of $249 while the 3G/WiFi model will go for the retail price of $299.
