Sony shuts down Factory making processors for PS3

As Sony (NYSE:SNE) goes through its process of downsizing to stay clear of the red, we have received news that the company has shut down the factory that produces the RXS processors for the PlayStation 3 console.

The company did make the announcement that it would discontinue any and all operations at the factory responsible for the RSX chips in the PS3, and its finally happening.

The good thing about the sad news is that the 220 employees at the production facility won’t be loosing their jobs, the employees will be transferred to other plants that currently makes image sensors, or other factories at alternate Sony Semiconductor Corporation sites.
