Sony has officially launched its new VAIO Z series on the US Market after it hit the Euro market a mere two weeks ago. The VAIO Z Series features an ultra-thin frame that measures only 0.66-inch with a body that was constructed using aluminum and carbon fiber which makes it lightweight as well. The Sony VAIO Z Series is powered by Intel’s new Sandy Bridge Platform which includes the 2.7GHz Core i7-2620M processor with Turbo Boost Technology which promises a high performance, it gets an Intel HD 3000 graphics card, a 256GB solid state drive and up to 8GB of RAM.
It could be considered as a mid-range device with the specifications noted above plus there are other noteworthy specs such as an integrated 1.3-megapixel webcam, a fingerprint reader for added security, Bluetooth 2.1 and WiFi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity, optional 3G, Intel Wireless Display 2.0, one USB 3.0, a HDMI port for connectivity to your HDTV at home and a 13.1-inch LCD display with a 1600×900 or a 1920×1080 Full HD resolution.
The Sony VAIO Z also comes with a battery that delivers up to 8 hours of operation from a single charge plus there is the option to get the sheet battery that will boost the device’s battery life up to 16 hours. It comes in three color options which includes Carbon Black, Carbon Indigo and Premium Carbon Black for the starting price of $1970 from Sony’s online store.
For that price each buyer also gets the Power Media Dock that comes equipped with an Radeon HD 6650M graphics card with 1GB of VRAM, an optical drive, two USB 2.0 ports, one USB 3.0 ports and an HDMI port as well.
