It was only a few weeks back that Sony officially announced that they have divorced Ericsson and already the company is unveiling new device under the Sony moniker. The company is presently at the Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona, Spain, they unveiled the new Xperia P Smartphone that comes with an aluminum unibody and Sony’s new WhiteMagic display which promises to be ultra-bright and at the same-time energy efficient.
The new Xperia P comes equipped with a 4-inch Reality display that is powered by Sony’s Mobile BRAVIA technology, it is the first smartphone to feature the company’s new WhiteMagic display, powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor and has 16GB of on-board storage capacity. On the back there’s an 8-megapixel camera with HD video recording capabilities, it comes with an HDMI port, DLNA media sharing, NFC support (Near Field Communication), and a aluminum unibody design that will come in the color options of red, black or silver.
The Xperia P Smartphone will runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS out the box but Sony promises an upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich later in the year. It will be released on the Europe market during Q2 but no pricing information has been announced.
