Sprint has announced a special Samsumg Galaxy S5 Smartphone which is targeted at users with an “active lifestyle”, dubbed the Galaxy S5 Sport. Before this, user who wanted a Galaxy S5 that would stand up against the elements would have to get the Active Series which is sold by AT&T.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport isn’t described by the carrier as rugged, it opted to go for the health side of the description. It features a grip-friendly textured body in red or blue, comes with the Activity Zone app and button that has a barometer, compass, flashlight, and stopwatch. Like all other Galaxy S5, it is also IP67 meaning its water and dust resistance.
The new Galaxy S5 Sport came into existence thanks to a partnership between Sprint and Under Armour. It comes standard with health features like Sprint Fit Live, a central place to monitor workout activities, MapMyFitness MVP (12 months free), Spotify Workout playlists (6 months free service on Framily plan), and getting updates on fitness apps.
Sprint plans to start offering the new handset, Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport on July 25 for 24 payments of $27.09 ($650.16).
