ZINK Technology has been around since it was unveiled at the CES in 2008 but other than the Polaroid GL10 Instant Printer from the company’s Grey Label line we haven’t seen the technology being utilizes as much as we as consumers would like to see it in abundance as it is a budget-friendly way to print photos plus there are no messes and the photos are dry to the touch unlike inkjet printers. The Tomy Xiao TIP-521 is a Digital Camera that was unveiled back in 2008 as well and by now we all thought it would be in abundance at stores such as Walmart and Best Buy but unfortunately its seems as if the company behind the revolutionary ZINK technology has it under wraps from other manufacturers and aren’t doing much to market the products that does utilizes the technology presently.
The Tomy Xiao TIP-521 is not even listed on Amazon and I am certain that if the company had market this product as much as possible they would have gotten a few sales. It comes with a built-in ZINK (Zero Ink) Printer that prints photos as soon as they are snapped. The camera has a 5.0-megapixel CMOS sensor, 4x digital zoom and a fixed focus lens that enables the user to capture quality images and share them instantly in hard copy with the need to buy Ink Cartridges on a monthly basis.
The Zink Print Paper is also relatively cheap at a mere $5.88 for a pack of 30 sheets so why aren’t the products using the ZINK Technology available all over the US?, this draws my conclusion that when it comes to these manufacturers its not about what will benefit the consumer but what will make the most money or probably manufacturing ZINK Printers on the commercial level will put the INK, Toners and Ribbon companies out of business. If they could just focus on making ZINK Printers that has the ability to produce 4×6 photos and larger it would be very useful to the average consumer.
