Whenever I hear the word “hacked” my skin crawls, why? because I have been hacked more times than I can count on one hand, and I know its very hectic getting everything back to its former glory. Twitter recently experienced something similar, the micro blogging platform just confirmed that approximately 250,000 users are affected in the recent hack of the system.
As a security and pre-cautionary measure, Twitter did reset all the affected passwords and revoked all session tokens from affected accounts. Twitter said that it will be sending out emails to notify users who falls on this list, alerting them to create new passwords.
Twitter released an official statement regarding the incident and they observed “unusual access patterns that led to us identifying unauthorized access attempts to Twitter user data“. Twitter also described the attack as being “sophisticated”.“This attack was not the work of amateurs, and we do not believe it was an isolated incident,” “The attackers were extremely sophisticated, and we believe other companies and organizations have also been recently similarly attacked.” – that’s how Twitter’s director of Information Security (Bob Lord) talked about the incident in a blog post.
Go ahead and check your emails if you fall on the list of affected accounts so you can create new passwords and get back to your life of tweeting!! Best Regards to Twitter!!
