Vivo has launched the Vivo Z5 Smartphone in China. The Vivo Z5 seems to be pretty impressive with a massive 6.39-inch display, powered by a high-end processor and an out-of-this-world camera setup.
There are other impressive highlights on the Vivo Z5 including; a huge battery, fast charging feature, an advanced AI assistant and even multi-turbo system that enhances the phone’s performance and graphics while gaming.
Vivo Z5 will start accepting pre-orders for all variants August 1st through its online store and other e-commerce platforms in China but will officially go on sale starting August 6th. The phone comes in three colour options; Forest Night, Aurora Illusion and Holographic Illusion. The starting price of the Vivo Z5 is 1,598 Yuan approximately $232USD.
Vivo Z5 Specs and Features:
The Vivo Z5 comes fitted with a massive 6.39-inch Super AMOLED display with a Full HD+ 1080 x 2340 resolution. The display also has a semi-circular waterdrop-styled notch at the top of the screen.
Vivo made the display tall with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and also integrated a quick responding fingerprint reader. The Vivo Z5 also carries display features such as an Always-On and screen dimming.
Vivo Z5: Hardware and Software Performance
Under the hood, there’s an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 and accompanied with the option of a 6GB or 8GB RAM. Vivo packed in 256GB of onboard storage but there are also different variants with less storage down to 64GB. There is no microSD card slot available on any variants.
Four variants will be available in India and China:
- 64GB Storage with 6GB RAM
- 128GB Storage with 6GB RAM
- 256GB Storage with 6GB RAM
- 128GB Storage with 8GB RAM
All variants will run Android 9 Pie OS right out the box and Vivo’s customized skin dubbed Funtouch OS 9.1 running on top. Its 4500mAh battery should be good enough to keep the device powered all day, but if not it supports proprietary fast charging.
The Vivo Z5 is a dual-SIM capable smartphone that accepts Nano-SIM and Nano-SIM cards.
Connectivity options include WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, Micro-USB, a 3.5mm headphone port, 3G, 4G/LTE and Supports 4G in India (Band 40).
Vivo Z5: Camera Module and Features.
The Vivo Z5 comes with a triple camera setup on the backside. The camera setup consists of a 48-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens sensor with f/2.2 aperture and a 2-megapixel depth-sensor with f/2.4 aperture.
There is a 32-megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture. The front camera also utilizes a 4-in-1 pixel merging technology for shooting better selfies in low-lighting conditions.
The rear triple camera setup also comes with autofocus and LED flash. My opinion is that with an impressive triple camera setup such as this I would be flipping the phone around for my selfies (just saying).
Other Noteworthy Features.
The phone comes with a wide variety of sensors to support a number of functions. These sensors include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, compass/ magnetometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor, a fingerprint sensor integrated into the display.
