WhatsApp was recently acquired by Facebook for a whopping $19 billion, as one of the most popular cross platform messaging service in the world, WhatsApp is once again celebrating another milestone. The company announced that it has reached the significant milestone of having over a Half A Billion active users around the world.
According to the company, collectively users are sharing 700 million photos and 100 million videos every single day through WhatsApp.
Some of the fastest growing markets over the past few months have been Mexico, Brazil, India and Russia. Many think that Facebook overpaid for WhatsApp, however CEO Mark Zuckerberg is of the view that the service is worth more than the $19 billion.
The cross-platform messaging service took only about a month and a half to add on 50 million new users, the last update on user stats it posted in February, WhatsApp had 450 million active users. The service is well on the way to having one billion active users which could be in the very near future.
